About Me
I’m Jeffrie Ann. And IĀ started a blog (Sept. ‘09). So I guess first off I should tell you a bit about myself. If you know what I’m interested in then you will know what to expect to find here in the future, right?
I am a Baby Boomer who refuses to get old. I defy the frumpy. I’m not really a trend follower, all depends on the trend. I am not a victim or slave to fashion. I don’t worry too much about being “of the moment”. I like personalized style. Something that says “this is me, I look and feel good and I don’t care what magazine it is or isn’t in”. That’s what is working for me, now that I am smack dab in the middle 50’s! The photos you see here are just random snap shots, all within the last 2 years.
The content on this blog is predominately going to be about Skin Care and Anti-Aging. Ways to care for your skin, and all the stuff that can make your anti-aging choices easier by keeping you informed.
I believe in growing older gracefully, looking natural, beautiful and fresh. There are ways to accomplish that without drastic measures such as surgery, painful shots and spendingĀ all your time in a spa. Of course if that’s what you want to do, that’s OK, too. We are all different. You will still find things here that will keep you informed and making wise choices!
From time to time you may find links to other sites that are of interest to me beyond skin care. I might send you to a site about vintage jewelry, or maybe I found a new favorite pair of boots on a really cool site, or the best white shirt you’ve ever seen. I know some places to check out fitness and my favorite fitness modality, Pilates (I am a certified instructor). And I’ve seen some amazing sites that offer helpful and thoughtful information for women, good supportive woman to woman stuff. So there will be places I may send you for that.
I believe in women helping women, we can build each other up, help make each other better.
In addition to being a Pilates Instructor, I am also an Esthetician, that’s Facialist in lay speak.
As an Esthetician (Aveda Institute trained), I am very much into skin care. All that anti-aging stuff. Gee, since I revealed my age right off the bat this shouldn’t be a surprise! But young women are into anti-aging skin care, too. And if they aren’t, they should be.
There are so many new discoveries about how and why the skin ages. There are tons of new products that claim to prevent and slow premature aging of the skin. And some amazing discoveries and products that claim to repair and restore skin that is already showing signs of aging.
Many of them are just claims though. But some of them are not. And who better than a facialist to help you find the stuff that works? I will be posting some info about some incredible products and discoveries, now pay attention here, that really work! I’ve tried them. Over the years I’ve tried a lot of them. I’ve been disappointed in many, elated over few.
I may tell you about a particular ingredient. Or maybe I’ll tell you about new technology. What to look for in packaging, yup, that’s important. And I will also tell you why something that seems like it should work, won’t. We are going to talk about collagen, elastin, facials, why we get wrinkles, how to prevent wrinkles, how to reduce wrinkles. Anything to do with anti-aging, I am going to talk to you about it.
As a Pilates Instructor I believe in a fit body no matter your age. Who says it all goes downhill after 40? HA! It doesn’t have to. But only you have the power to keep your body fit, flexible, lean and strong. If you want it, you work for it. When you work for it, you get it and the rewards are many.
I don’t believe in diets. I believe in learning to eat good food. But don’t get me wrong here. If you have a serious issue, than you most certainly need a well designed program that will teach you how to eat all foods, enjoy your food and regain your health at the same time. They are out there, these programs. And yes, I will probably find you a great resource for that too. Food and eating is one of the pleasures of life. Doing it right is the key.
I love dogs. I have 2 little cuties, Butch and Cassidy, both are ShihTzu’s, same litter, brother and sister. Little lights in my life. I love reading, baking, beaches, islands, warm weather, good friends, my family, art, mid-century modern furniture, California (my home state).
I also love helping women to be their best. I suppose that is why I chose the two fields I work in. I love to see a woman be the best she can be at every stage of life. We are all going to grow old, but we do not have to look old, dress old, act old or feel old. I don’t, why should you?
I love classic clothing but with a twist. I think my favorite look is a pair of cool, well fitted jeans, and a crisp white shirt with amazing vintage jewelry (bet you figured that out already when I told you where I might link you to!). Pull on a pair of boots in the winter, a great pair of sandals in the summer, and off I go!
So, I’m not particularly formal. I like to feel at ease, comfortable. Yes, I dress up when the occasion calls for it. That would mean a LBD (little black dress, you knew that, right?), my favorite floral print, silk Jimmy Choos and yes, that vintage jewelry again. I keep it simple.
So if I have caught your interest and you want to visit me, stop by here,or give me a shout by email. Tell me what you want to know. Ask me a question. If I don’t have an answer I will go looking for one. I know, you could easily Google it yourself. But here, you get to make a friend. And that’s kind of nice, isn’t it?
I wish you all the best in life. Be healthy, love and be loved, be as beautiful as you can be, age gracefully and most of all, be happy.
Look for the small things in life to bring you pleasure and the bigger things will follow.
With my warmest wishes to all who visit here,
Jeffrie Ann
