Anti-Aging: What Do You Know Beyond the Products?
Anti-Aging and Skin Care can be confusing. And that can make selecting the correct products a daunting task.
Just for a moment though, let’s take all the anti-aging products out of the picture. What do you actually know about how to maintain younger looking skin without all the externally applied lotions and potions?
Does what you eat affect acne, or help dry skin? Are all liquids consumed beneficial to the skin? Hmmm, ever thought about that? Or are you relying on whatever it is that you apply every morning and night (your anti-aging and skin care regimen) to do it all?
What you ingest (food and drink) is a factor. Your daily lifestyle is, too. If you don’t know how these things affect the aging of the skin you don’t have a complete picture. Read the rest of this entry »
Dry Skin – Quick Fix Tip with Olive Oil
Dry winter skin getting to you? Haven’t replaced your usual moisturizer with something a little more emollient? Or you have and it still isn’t enough?
Here is a quick fix anyone can do in a flash. Olive oil! We all have it in our pantry. All you need to do is add a drop to your moisturizer in the palm of your hand, mix it up real well and apply.
Olive oil is rich in vitamins A and E which are antioxidants and fight damaging free radicals. It also contains natural plant derived Squalene. Squalene is a natural moisturizer used in many cosmetics.
Be aware that Squalene is also a compound found in the liver of sharks. Go for the more environmentally and animal friendly version found in olive oil. Remember, cosmetic labels can be misleading, make sure it states Squalene as olive oil or as botanically derived.
One other very cool component of olive oil is Chlorophyll, which is a
photosynthetic pigment found in plants and algae. It is an anti-aging substance that promotes the healing of skin conditions and wounds.
So next time you have a dab of your moisturizer in your palm and need a little boost for that dry skin, mosey on over to the pantry and have a little visit with that bottle of olive oil.
And don’t worry about smelling like the makings of a salad dressing. You won’t notice and no one else will either. Trust me, this works.
Note~2/25/2010~ After writing this post I started thinking about Squalene and Squalane. And started looking around, did some research. Check this out to see what I learned, and why I now use the Squalane in it’s pure form.

Aging and Wrinkles from Extrinsic Causes!
In another post I told you about how wrinkles are formed. About the internal biological stuff that causes wrinkles over time, the intrinsic factors. But there are also a number of factors that are related to lifestyle and personal habits that contribute to wrinkles and just how soon you start seeing those wrinkles appear. These are extrinsic reasons for aging of the skin. And they are how we get those free radicals roaming around in our systems, like little “pac men” messing with all our healthy cells!! I really think the media itself has properly covered this. Articles in magazines and news show segments are always telling us what not to do!
But I am going to give you a little run down as a reminder. Because changing some of your wrinkle inducing habits could make a big difference. And help your skin care products do their job giving you a complexion nothing short of gorgeous!
Okay, Here we go!
#1: Do not smoke. Smoking is one of two of the biggest wrinkle inducing habits. And it isn???t just the toxins and restricted oxygen and blood flow that are the problem. The actual physical motion of pursing the lips to take a puff, well , where do you think those vertical lip lines come from? You will also earn the experience early degradation of collagen and elastin if you smoke. Read the rest of this entry »
