Acne Scars and Scotch Tape?

Looking around the net at anti-aging sites and forums I found this bit about using scotch tape on red marks left behind by acne and the occasional breakout. Wow, never heard that one before. Have you?

Strangely enough, people claim that using a piece of regular old scotch tape on a remaining red spot will fade or remove it.  Over time of course. I haven’t tried it myself since I don’t have any red marks, at least right now….

This is done on a freshly washed and dried face. Don’t put any treatments or moisturizer on before you apply the tape. You apply the tape and then remove it immediately. So it is a bit like a peeling exfoliate. At least that is the way I understood it.

Funny how even though I am an esthetician I still find things that people are using on their faces that I have never heard of! But then, I am a blogging and researching esthetician. I am not in the spa any longer listening to clients and hearing all about the latest home remedy they have tried. Actually, some of those stories used to make me cringe… What we women won’t try in the name of beauty and perfect skin.

Anyway, I thought maybe you might like to check out the post I saw and see some of the comments…

And I want to know what unusual at home anti-aging or skin care remedies you have tried. Did they work? Did you feel like you had made a fabulous discovery? Or was it a failed experiment? Do share…..

Oh~ here’s the link to the post on taping your red marks away. Vivawoman

I had never heard of it either! I did try it on my skin just to see how it felt. There was no residue left behind that I could detect. And remember, this is not for a breakout that is inflamed, just for the red mark left behind after the healing process. So don't try it on a pimple! Just scars.

I never heard about this. But this could be possible only for small breakouts? Sometimes using scot tape, the glue on the scot tape itself could make the skin more dirty and worsen the acne.

Hey Kell! Thanks! Just make sure you don't do this on anything that is still inflamed. The blemish must have healed first. This intended for the mark it leaves behind.

Now that is worth trying…nothing to lose. I will let you know how it works or doesn't. Good to have you back.
