Anti-Aging and the Reality (Inevitability) of Wrinkles
The reality and inevitability of aging and wrinkles. It cannot be avoided or evaded. In fact, we should all be considering ourselves lucky to be aging, means we are still alive.
Problems set in when we don’t want to look as if we are aging. I personally know this all too well. How about you? It isn’t the age that bothers me, the actual number. It’s that reflection in the mirror. The Battle of the Wrinkles. Luckily (and no, I am not bragging), between my experience as an Esthetician and just plain old good genes, I’ve been fighting back pretty well.
I’ve done my homework, researched product ingredients, figured out what will actually provide some results. And in case you haven’t, I have put much of it together here for you, on this blog (always more to come).
Results vary though. And we, you and I, vary. Some of us show the signs of aging earlier than others. Products vary. Effectiveness, stability, things like that.. All the hype around products is crazy. This one does it all! Eliminate wrinkles! Better than this, better than that! What a mess, right? Read the rest of this entry »
Anti-Aging Skin Care Treatment: Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is an anti-aging and restorative skin care procedure being used by many women. There are good candidates for this treatment and some who should stay way clear of it. In general, this is a great tool for treating aging skin, dark and unwanted pigmentation, acne scarring, blackheads, fine lines or wrinkles, and thickened or dull skin. It is also useful in reducing the appearance of enlarged pores.
Women who have any of the following issues should not consider Microdermabrasion. Rosacea, active acne, dermatitis, any type of lesion, eczema or psoriasis, cold sores, hepatitis, active diabetes, broken or fragile capillaries, and anyone taking prescription blood thinners. Anyone who has taken the drug Accutane should wait 6-12 months before having treatment. Your skin is in a highly sensitive state after the use of Accutane. If you are pregnant or nursing Microdermabrasion should be avoided. And if you are 14 years of age or younger. These last two issues are hormone related, you could end up with permanent discoloration.
OK, so now we have that out of the way. Are you a candidate? Read the rest of this entry »
Stop Wrinkles Before They Happen – FYI Under 40!
So, you think because you are in your 20′s or 30′s you don’t need to worry about Anti-Aging Skin Care? You could not be more wrong! When I was at that stage in life I knew that one day I would have wrinkles. I moisturized, used good products, did what I could. Since I am an Esthetician I had access to some of the best skin care of the day. But none of them could prevent wrinkles from forming. The technology for those types of products did not exist. There were products that claimed to prevent wrinkles and reduce wrinkles, but they were just that, claims. Read the rest of this entry »
Aging and Your Face – Is That Your Ancestor in the Mirror?
Do you see family traits when you look in the mirror? Your mother’s eyes? Or perhaps your father’s smile? Or maybe the shape of you grandmother’s face, the dimples in your grandfather’ s cheeks.
We all carry genetic coding passed from generation to generation that determines our physical characteristics.
Did you know that we also carry genetic coding that determines how we age? Researchers have discovered a genetic marker in our DNA that pre-determines how fast or slow we age. Meaning how early the wrinkles and the sagging skin show up. And that is due to loss of collagen and whatever our skin cells and fibroblasts (the factories for collagen, elastin and
hydration production) have decided to do or not do.
Some of us may look younger than our actual years while others may look quite a bit older than we are.
Yeah, so not fair! Bugs me, too! However there are things we can do to improve how we age if we choose the right lifestyle. And we can select products with a proven track record of results in anti-aging to help keep us wrinkle free.
Personally, I find it fascinating that there is a genetic marker in our bodies that makes this aging decision. Not saying I like it, just that it is so interesting to me that this particular part of our genetic coding has been discovered and research has been published. Because that means better and more efficient anti-aging, wrinkle reducing skin care is being (and will continue to be) developed!
Now that… is a very good thing Agreed? Of course you agree! You wouldn’t be visiting this blog if you didn’t agree!
